Fire Extinguisher Mishap – A Lesson in Safety

At Team Arrow, we take our drone building and racing seriously—but sometimes, unexpected moments turn into unforgettable memories. This time, it was all about a fire extinguisher, a well-intended mistake, and a whole lot of laughs!

The Great Extinguisher Incident

It started like any other intense build session. We were fine-tuning our latest drone, testing motors, and ensuring everything was running smoothly. Suddenly, in a moment of pure adrenaline (or maybe sheer panic), one of our teammates, let’s call him The Overenthusiastic Firefighter, was ready in case any incident happened. But in his eagerness, he accidentally pressed the trigger—despite there being absolutely NO FIRE!

White foam exploded everywhere. The workbench, the drone parts, even our teammate’s own face—covered in a cloud of extinguisher dust. There was a moment of complete silence, then an eruption of laughter.

Safety First (Even in Funny Moments)

While this incident was hilarious, it did remind us why fire safety is crucial, especially in an environment filled with batteries, high-speed motors, and electronics. Here’s how we properly handle fire safety at Team Arrow:

Only Use the Extinguisher When Necessary – Fire extinguishers are for actual fires, not overactive imaginations!
Know Your Equipment – We regularly review how to use extinguishers properly, including the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
Battery Safety First – Since drone batteries (LiPo) can be a fire hazard, we always store and charge them in fireproof bags.
Have an Emergency Plan – Knowing where extinguishers are and how to use them effectively ensures we stay safe while having fun.
Clean-Up Protocols – Turns out, cleaning up extinguisher powder takes time—lesson learned!

Laughs, Lessons, and Moving Forward

While The Overenthusiastic Firefighter may never live this down, it was a great reminder that safety comes first—even when things get funny. At Team Arrow, we push boundaries with our drones, but we always make sure to follow the right protocols.

And next time, before grabbing the extinguisher, we’ll double-check if there’s actually a fire first!
